How Can You Support Your Realtor Partner?

Jul 20, 2021
Hello everyone, Stephanie Chatman here and I will give some useful insights on how you can become a supportive spouse to your Realtor Partner.

We all want what's best for our partners. After all, they work so hard to provide for our families. As a spouse, we want to find different ways on how we can best support and lighten up the load for them. It's a perfectly natural thing to do.

I wrote this blog for the spouses whose partners are in the Real Estate Industry. We will talk about some practical ways how you can best support your Realtor Spouse so they can stay on top of their game.

What's do you mean by Lead Generate and how do you do it?
Basically, get your phone. Run through your database of people that you know. Get in touch with your co-workers,  your neighbors, and people in your community. You can help out by circulating their business cards, going to different establishments, and leaving your partner's business cards on their countertop so when people come through, they can easily contact your partner when they need a realtor.

Another way to generate leads is by talking to your family members, your cousins, your aunties, your uncles and asking for referrals. You can ask them to like, and subscribe to your partner's youtube channel, sharing your website, and etc. These are just some types of Lead Generation that you can do to support your spouse.

Networking and Lead Generation go hand-in-hand. If you have co-workers who are thinking of selling their home, you can always pitch in and advertise your partner. Give them your partner's business card. That is one great way that you can build your network while generating leads at the same time. that way.

Another way that you can build your network is by making deals with businesses. For example, we have a good connection with a local pizza place in our community. I actually spoke with the manager and ask him if we could put our name on a couple of boxes of pizza?  In return, we will buy their pizza and give it out for free if one of their customers buys a home that's nearby. It worked out beautifully. I didn't even know these kinds of programs actually existed. Clients who have actually purchased a home can get a free box of pizza once they complete their deal with my husband.

Another way to build your network is by talking to other businesses in your area. I find that mom-and-pop businesses are the best businesses you can work with because I tend to have an "it's kind of like I'm helping you, you help me" working relationship with them. I don't deal with big franchise charges and other shenanigans with them. While I am networking with these types of businesses, I am also doing my share in the community by supporting local shops.

Lastly, I build my network by putting out flyers and putting out those signs and stuff that you see up and down the highway during open houses.

Be that supportive spouse and offer to put out signs, go door knocking, and putting out the flyers and stuff around the businesses in the community to bring people to your open house.

One great way to marketing your partner's business is by wearing a polo shirt that has the business logo on it.  I wear our polo shirt often to market my husband's business. I get polo shirts,  bumper stickers, you name it- those are all cool forms of marketing for your realtor spouse.

You can also help put marketing materials together and organize your spouse's stuff so they're not up all night. Those little things seem like it takes no time, but it's tedious and takes a lot of work for your realtor spouse. They can dedicate their time making phone calls and you could just take that part off their hands.

This market is so crazy. It can get really stressful for your spouse. I'm sure you know this already.  Your spouse would most likely become so overwhelmed at the hundred different things going on at the same time. So here's one thing you can do for them, a very helpful thing indeed.

Be a counselor.
Be a listening ear to your spouse. It wouldn't hurt to ask how their day is going. Ask them how you can help them, maybe they need to figure something out and need a new perspective doing that. Let them open up and just spill out whatever they have going on in their head. Sometimes they may not feel like they have anybody else to talk to. When your spouse is too stressed out, it would be nice to have someone to talk to so they have can clear out whatever it is that's burdening them.  So be that listening ear so and make them feel comfortable enough. Knowing that you are in the game makes things a whole lot easier for them.

When we're doing marketing and networking activities for the business, naturally money comes out of our pockets. Sometimes, when our spouses are so deep into their marketing efforts, the spending can go overboard and we won't know how much money is being spent sometimes. This is where you can step in and help. Be a CFO (Chief Finance Officer) for your spouse's business.

What does being a CFO for your spouse's business entail?
Your spouse would want different marketing materials such as bumper stickers. Sometimes, they want to give out free T-Shirts or any freebies in order to help bring more people to their business. Your job as a CFO is to find out resources and marketing activities that you can do for free. Start in your own way by going to different businesses and passing out some candy along with your business card, etc.  There are so many ways that you can brand your business without breaking the bank.  You can put the brakes nicely in terms of overspending. So talk to your spouse about the budget limit for your marketing activities and find out some ways how you can spend less without compromising the quality of your spouse's marketing efforts.
